Community Quilts are a way of sharing care, compassion and support for community members who are facing illness or other hardships.
  1. BFSkinner was one of the first recipients of a community quilt...number 6, actually, in 2009. The reason was lupus, a disease that was, distressingly, affecting the cognition of this very brilliant and successful psychologist.  Since then, he’s been in the hospital more times than we can count, in very fragile condition but full of fight to survive.  His quilt has been a big, big support to him in his struggles.  He wrote to me

If you are like me, you have thoroughly enjoyed reading Murfster35’s diaries about politics.  The man is funny and very, very sharp!  But what you may not know is that Murfster35 is medically retired.  There is something wrong that has curbed what he can do — and the doctors don’t know for sure what it is.

    Personally, I think sometimes a mystery about an illness is as painful as any symptom.  It sucks.
